Before you get carried away, I’m no expect when it comes to blogging but they are a few things I’ve learned along the way. When I started my blogging journey last year, I just wanted a place where I can express myself, share my thoughts on the books I read. I never did enough research, so it suffices to say I was clueless as to what I was getting myself into. I knew what I wanted to do but the how I decided to deal with along the way. I guess it was a good thing because it would’ve taken me a long time to actually start if I started with researching first.
I knew I wanted to review book but I did not want it to be just about books as they’re a few topics one can do other than book reviews. I wanted my to be more than that because I have interest in a lot of things, so whats stopping me from actually starting.
I just wanted to motivate those who are interested in blogging but are just scared, to take a leap of faith and just wing it. lets get to the tips,
This is the easy part, you can just familiarize yourself with the platforms and see what works for you. I chose WordPress and I actually liked it. Once this is decided you can start planing your blog (names, domains and all that jazz).
Whereby you get to decide what topics you are going to focus on. Don’t be too broad with you niche, because the narrow the better. It would be easier for you to focus on that thing.
Plan when you want to post and stick to your schedule. This was a challenge for me as I just posted whenever I had a book review which lead to me not being consistent. Consistent is key in life, so be consistent. After that, plan your posts beforehand, know which post is going up on which week. I think its better to have a monthly plan, so that you don’t have to worry about anything. The best thing is to have a batch of posts before you launch your blog, so that on the day its supposed to go live you are not worried about anything. This would work perfectly as you continue blogging, because when you get busy, they is no need to worry about writing a post. When you are consistent, you start taking your blog serious.
I usually plan my post on a weekend for the following week, because I get busy during the week.
That is it for today, hope you learned something and it was a motivation enough to get you started on your blog now.
Blogging is not easy, that I know but with good planning I think its possible to be consistent. Just challenge yourself to be consistent. On that note, have you noticed that I’ve been posting daily? That was my challenge for the month of September and guess what I’m halfway there. I’ve been enjoying myself but I must say it took a lot for me to take this decision lol.
Anyways, please do leave some of the things you wished you knew before you started your blog?
If you are planning to start a blog, I’d like to know if this was helpful.
Until next time,
