Book to movie adaptation [To all the boys I’ve loved before]
Yesterday I decided to watch this movie I’ve been waiting for since the beginning of the year when I discovered its was going to be adapted to a movie. My plan was to finish the series before the movie releases, but that did not happen lol. I only managed to finish the first book in the series a month ago.
Usually when there is a book to movie adaptation, people tend to say oh I enjoyed the book better than the movie. I think us bookworms would prefer to have the exact book adapted to a movie, which is impossible. Only important scenes are included and those that can create a vivid story-line for those who have not yet read the book. Obviously many scenes would be omitted because they need to fit most important scenes to an hour or two.
Anyways lets get to it.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister’s ex-boyfriend, Josh. As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all.
First things first, I’d like to say that I absolutely love the book. I think I read it in 2 days, I loved the story-line and I related to Lara Jean a lot.
It was amazing to see an Asian girl as the female lead.
The sisters almost looked the same I loved that aspect, it shows that they did a good adaptation.
The location where the movie was shot, is just perfect. I was drawn to it all the time whilst watching the movie (especially when they were going to that school trip…just perfect).
I mentioned before that, its difficult to include everything from the book which I understand but I feel like I did not see much of Josh in the movie. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the movie, I enjoyed watching the characters and I think they did a good job with the adaptation of the book.
Overall, I enjoyed it and would really recommend it. If you have read the book and watched the movie, I’d like to know your thoughts and if you watched the movie and did not read the book, please let me know your thoughts.
I cant wait to read the second and third book in the series, hopefully, its good as this one.
Until next time.
