I know I am bit late with this as it was supposed to go up last week Saturday (31 March) but I got sick and I couldn’t do anything for the whole weekend. But its better late than never lool. Don’t be deceived by the title, I read 10 books in 3 months (Jan, Feb & March), thus its a quarterly review. Last year I did my monthly wrap-ups but then I decided to change things up this year to quarterly reviews. Just because at times I end up reading 2 or 3 books which for me doesn’t make sense to include them in a wrap-up. Thus this year I’ll only do these every after 3 months. Without any further ado lets get to the books I read in the first quarter of 2018.
Warcross by Marie Lu
I started this at the beginning of December and only read about 10 pages or so and stopped but then in January I started it again. It was an amazing book and my review is here.
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
I read Rupi Kaur’s second poetry collection last year; “The sun and her Flowers“, which I adored. So I wanted to read her first book and I did enjoy it but I still think I enjoyed the second one even more, that’s my opinion. I posted a review for milk and honey.
This Monstrous Thing by Mackenzi Lee
I’ve had this book for such a long time and I don’t even know why I didn’t pick it up. But eventually I did and it was just perfectly executed. My full review here.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I think I am the last one to have read this book lol. Everyone has been raving about it for so long and I decided to read it this year. I think maybe the hype was just holding me back lol. But anyways I enjoyed it. My full review here.
Turtles all the way down by John Green
This is one book I got right after it came out last year. But I was in a reading slump for a few weeks and I only got to it in February. But it was amazing, I loved reading about anxiety. My full review here.
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
This is a heart-wrenching book, but amazingly written. I loved it so much and I have a review here.
Herding Cats: Being Advice to Aspiring Academic and Research Leaders by Geoff Garett and Graeme Davies
I was not really interested in reading about leadership or management. The only reason was the fact that it focuses on researchers, so I was intrigued. It was a good read and my review is here.
No matter the wreckage by Sarah Kay
I love poetry and this is the year where I want to invest in growing my poetry collection. I got this book just because I was watching a book review on YouTube and I wanted to get it. I loved it, my full review here.
Garden Design and Planning by Alan & Gill Bridgewater
My plan this year is to start my own garden which is part of my bucket list for the year. I’d like to say thank you to Penguin Random House South Africa for sending me a copy. It was a perfect book and I learned a lot. Full review here.
Misled by Candice Spammer
The last book I completed in the month of March, the author sent me the book in exchange for a review. It was amazing to read about what happens when your past secrets come crumbling to your future. My spoiler free review here.
It was a good reading quarter even though I was in a reading slump for the month of Jan but I still managed to get 10 books down. My favourite book for this quarter would have to be Turtles all the way down.
Those were all the books I read in the past 3 months, I hope to read more in the second quarter in order for me to reach my reading goal for 2018.
Have you read any of these books? I’d like to know your thoughts on them. How many books did you read in the first quarter?
Until next time.
