“Quotes are important because they activate an emotional pulse point in our hearts and minds when we are in a distressing situation. The right quote can help us see light at the end of the tunnel, and give us that extra burst of hope and courage to persevere.”

With that said, today I decided to write a post about some of my favorite quotes from the books I’ve read (not all of them of course). I usually include some of my favorite quotes in my reviews but not all the time. I kind of like the idea of doing it monthly or maybe once after 2 months or something. Please feel free to let me know what you think about that.

You can check out the way I annotate my books and how I manage to mark quotes so that I can go back and re-read them (here).

Disclaimer: Please note that they might be mild spoilers from this but not to the extent that the book might be ruined for you.

Below are my favorite quotes.

  1. A thousand Splendid Suns By Khaled Hosseini
    • “Like a compass needle that points north, a man’s accusation finger always finds a woman. Always. You remember that.”

  2. Six of Crows By Leigh Bardugo
    • “Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you’ll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won’t matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart.”

  3. When Dimple Met Rishi By Sandhya Menon
    • “You’re going to see a lot of it. People getting ahead unfairly because of the category into which they were born.”

  4. The Hate You Give By Angie Thomas
    • “Sometimes you can do everything right and things will still go wrong. The key is to never stop doing right.”

  5. Crooked Kingdom By Leigh Bardugo
    • “But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and the nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren’t chosen, when there was no royal blood in your veins. When the world owed you nothing, you demanded something of it anyway.”

  6. The Upside of Unrequited By Becky Albertalli
    • “But there’s this awfulness that comes when a guy thinks you like him. It’s as if he’s fully clothed and you’re naked in front of him. It’s like your heart suddenly lives outside your body, and whenever he wants, he can reach out and squeeze it. Unless he happens to like you back.”

    • “I hate hating my body. Actually, I don’t even hate my body. I just worry everyone else might.”

Those are the quotes I decide to share today. When I hear a good book quote, a lot of the times it makes me want to read that book. I am hoping that you’d find this helpful and motivating enough to read the books I’ve shared.

I hope you enjoyed this, please leave a comment below with some of your favorite quotes.
