Perfect People Be Careful What You Wish For
What would you do if you had the option to choose your child’s genetics? If you could program in their hair color, eye color, height, how intelligent they are, how much sleep they need, their fitness (all of this before they are even born). This is the question posed by this book.
After the death of their 4-year old son from a rare genetic disorder, John (a computer scientist) and Naomi Klaesson learn that if they have another baby there’s a high risk the same thing will happen. They are really determined to stop this from happening to their next child; therefore, they pay for the help of Dr. Leo Dettore (geneticist). Dettore offers them the opportunity to choose all the genes for their child-literally have a “designer baby”. A journalist finds out about the designer baby and they are being hunted by a group of religious fanatics. Months after giving birth, they realized that the kids are not just bright, rather unnervingly intelligent.
“All they wanted was a healthy child. What thy got was the perfect nightmare…..”
