Two weeks back I attended a book launch (first time ever lol) for the book we are reviewing today. I heard her first book; ‘the polygamist’ (of which I haven’t read as yet but I’d love to) is being adapted into a movie, but do take that with a pinch of salt.
Today’s review is in partnership with Pan Macmillan SA, who sent me me a review copy, so lets get to it.
Title: The Gold Diggers || Author: Sue Nyathi || Publisher: Pan Macmillan SA || Published: May 2018 || Pages: 281
The gold diggers takes place during the time of the height of Zimbabwe’s economic demise in 2008. A group of passengers embark on a treacherous expedition to the City of Gold (Johannersburg) in search for better opportunities. The group consist of different people; a kid who is hoping to meet with her mother; twins, who are running away from a troubled past; an ambitious young man; and a mother and son desperate to be reunited with a husband and father they see once a year. In search for a better future, they are hoping that the city of gold can present them with opportunities in order to attain that life and get that gold everyone is looking for. But things are not easy and we get to follow their lives from the time they get to Johannesburg.
